We partner with patients to avoid the need for emergency care; to promptly resolve urgent conditions

Our team at Crestview Family Dental is proud to provide compassionate, gentle dentistry within an inviting and relaxed setting. Patients in and around Santa Clara, California trust us and feel comfortable with us. So, they keep returning to our office for the care that they (and their families) need to stay healthy. After all, oral health supports overall, systemic health and well-being.

Routine visits to our office for exams by Dr. Kavneet Bindra and cleanings by our skilled dental hygienists also go a long way to preventing the conditions that lead to the need for emergency dental services.

Common dental emergencies

Dental emergencies tend to revolve around severe or persistent toothaches. Often, tooth pain does not arise overnight. It can be indicative of deep decay or severe gum disease. These conditions are progressive. We help to prevent, resolve and manage these conditions with consistent dental check-ups and periodontal maintenance that is tailored to each patient’s needs.

For instance, our professional cleanings remove the stubborn plaque that feeds off lingering food particles and bacteria. Plaque erodes at the teeth and triggers a process that further breaks down the gums and bone that support the teeth.

In addition to preventing the oral problems that commonly lead to pain and the need for urgent dental care, routine visits are also opportunities to examine the teeth, gums, and mouth. We can detect early-stage enamel erosion or gum inflammation before these problems are so severe that they produce pain and other symptoms. All that may be required to address early-stage decay, for example, are adjustments to oral hygiene and the introduction of fluoride supplements, or the application of dental sealants to back teeth.

These approaches are also tooth-preserving. By catching problems early into the disease process, Dr. Bindra is able to prevent further damage and to restore the natural tooth back to healthy structure and function.

Other dental emergencies may be caused by trauma to the teeth or mouth, such as a blow to the mouth while playing sports or other physical activities. Even these injuries can be prevented with services such as professional mouthguards or sports guards. The oral appliances customized by our team fit the mouth precisely and comfortably for utmost protection and patient compliance (athletes are more likely to wear them when they are comfortable and do not impede breathing or endurance!).

Prompt care for peace of mind

Even with the best planning, problems can still arise and often at the least “convenient” of times. Never fear, though! Our team is here to promptly see you, and to resolve toothaches. Since we are dental professionals, our urgent care is in the best interests of your oral health over the long term. Every effort will be made to preserve the natural tooth, and to accommodate urgent dental cases quickly.

During emergencies, seconds often do matter. So, be sure that all members of the family have our phone number saved in their contacts or someplace handy. We can be reached at (408) 217-0727. Also, bear in mind that oral problems do not resolve on their own. They require prompt care to assure the underlying decay or disease is not allowed to progress.
